Built for Work

We were put on this earth to make things better than when we got here, and that entails work. No matter your spiritual view everything points to us being better off when we are contributing. Our society works better when we are working with each other and making it a better place to live. When I say work I do not mean back breaking labor (though we should be prepared for this when we are able). I mean positive contribution through the gifts you were born with.

If you are one of those people that is always looking for a way to avoid work and looking for that time to relax then you are always going to be fulfilled. It might be that you are trying to do the least amount of work while you are at work, or you are trying to leave work early, or you are just looking down the road to retirement when you can stop working. There have been studies conducted that show when people retire their lives begin to decline rapidly. I am not an expert on this but I bet it is because they no longer feel like they are contributing. If avoiding work is what you are living for you are are living a miserable life.

Now many of us do not know what gifts we were given that we are supposed to exploit but part of that learning process is figuring out what those gifts are, through work. You need to find something to do and go do it, if you are not energized by it then keep at it while you find something else to contribute to. Through this process you will one day find the work you are supposed to be doing and you will be energized by the work. One thing to remember is the work you are energized by may not be glamorous and it may not be in the spotlight. it is what you love doing and only you can define what that is.
