SpongeBob Mentality

I am a huge fan of SpongeBob Squarepants mainly because I enjoy the silliness of it.

If we look at SpongeBob a little bit deeper there are a few things we can learn from him. First, no matter the challenge he always has a positive outlook. With this positive outlook he has the drive to overcome the challange, no matter how difficult.

Many people give up at the first sign of difficulty and then complain that they never get a break. Heck, many people are too negative to take on any challenges; they spend their life watching TV and complain that they are unlucky. When Sponge Bob is on his way to meet a challenge he is always saying “I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready…” Are you ready?

What have you done to take the next step in your life? Do you want a new job, do you want a raise, do you want to find the love of your life, do you want to start a business? What have you done to grow to take that next step? Are you reading and talking with people that are successful where you want to be successful. Are you surrounding yourself with successful people that encourage you? Are you spending your free time finding ways to reach your next goal? If you are not ready then you are not going to reach success. Just hoping for something will not make it happen. You have to put in the work.

Finally, Sponge Bob is always happy. There are times that he gets bummed out but very quickly he picks himself up. He keeps trying and trying and he always enjoys his work. Too many people are not happy enough. When Sponge Bob finds a problem he immediately tackles that problem and he is right back to happiness. He is a problem solver for his own happiness, are you?

If you are unhappy what are you doing about it. Are you complaining that you are unlucky; you have to earn your luck or are you doing the things I referred to in the previous paragraph. I think we all need to have a Sponge Bob Mentality.

  1. I think you nailed it here.  Spongebob is the eternal optimist.  He constantly straddles the line between naive and genius.  I think it also says something that he’s a cook at a (fast food) restaurant.  Not a chef.  Very average and accessible.  If a lowly fry cook can be that happy, surely we all can be.

    1. It comes down to how you choose to let life affect you. If your goal is to obtain something it may be ahrd but if your goal is to enjoy yourself that is easy to do.
